Ousman Sanyang BEng (Hons),

MSc, DIC, CEng, MICE, MCIHT, Chartered Transport Planner and Engineer. Ousman is a UK Chartered Transportation Planner and Engineer with over 30 years’ experience in civil engineering; highways; development and transportation planning; and project management across the UK, Middle East, and Africa. Ousman’s professional career started in the Gambia where he worked for the then Ministry of Works and Communications. He was involved in project feasibility studies; road rehabilitation projects; highway maintenance works funded through the World Bank; and site supervision of highway construction works. Ousman currently manages the international consultancy firm Atkins, Abu Dhabi Transport Planning team in the United Arab Emirates. He has responsibility for the technical delivery and management of transport projects in the UAE, Qatar, and Saudi Arabia. He has also delivered projects in the Sultanate of Oman, and India. In his current role, he has worked on high profile and award-winning development masterplans, transport planning, and highway projects in the Middle East. He has a wealth of experience on major development planning projects, public transport projects, and master planning projects ranging from urban renewal projects, to industrial, retail, commercial, residential, and mixed- use developments. Prior to joining Atkins, Ousman worked in senior positions within the transportation development control sections of the London Borough of Sutton, Surrey County Council, and London Borough of Hounslow, all in the UK. He played a lead role to develop the Transport Impact Fee (TIF) for the London Borough of Sutton. This was later adopted as the standard transport charge for developer contributions. Before his public sector experience in the UK, Ousman worked as Highway Engineer for several years in the UK private sector – Lewin Fryer and Partners Consulting Engineers (now part of Black and Veatch Group). He also acquired construction site supervision experience on secondment to John Mowlem and Company, at the time, on the Bluewater Shopping Centre project in Kent, UK.
